Hanukkah started on Sunday evening
and continues all this week.
Every year, I have to double-check
how to spell the name of this holiday.
Every single year.
Maybe this kid has the right idea --
Her Royal Highness the Cat
always laughs at me because
she knows how it's really spelled!
Happy Hanukkah / Hanukkat
to all who celebrate!

I was surprised it started so early this year. I know like Easter the date floats around
I’m with you. I cannot remember the spelling year to year.
HRH the Cat is just wise.
I always have to copy and paste it.
That said, now I need to find a yarmulke for MaxGoldberg.
it seems so early this year. we have an area in this city where everyone has manorahs attached to the top of their car and yes, they light a candle on it each day.
There are some words I just can't spell. So now imagine how I cope with Welsh. golygfeydd and tad yng nghyfraith being two examples.
I think there's latitude in spelling this word. That's my story anyway.
cats don't worry about such things. They just live in the moment.
A blessing on you
the Ol'Buzzard
Hi Debra, Like all transliterations, there is no official spelling, so as long as we can recognize the word, it's ok. I happen to have a tiny dreidel here, and just spun it in honor of this post. I got a gimel, which is the winning character, i.e., if gambling, you get the whole pot.

Our cat Phoebe has kept very quiet about her modelling assignment for that last picture. I wonder what she was paid.
OMG the kitty! *faints*
And I've seen it spelled in one a thousand ways.
What matters is the message, right?
Happy Hanukkah!
XOXO
That first meme really speaks to the current generation. Love the Hanukkats!
HRH ..smart kitty...Happy "Chanukah" I would have to look it up as well...if Needed to write it.. Have a good week..
Aw, this kitty's a mensch.
Thank you, Debra.
You're ahead of me, and it's going on the third night. Oy vey.
Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate -- the world needs as much light as it can get in these times!
Happy Honk!
Happy Honk is so much easier for the spelling disabled.
I have to google it every year...
Happy Honk Debra! :)
Hope light never fades from the spirit.
Coffee is on and stay safe
Happy Hannukah!
The problem comes in with translation since hebrew uses a different alphabet. The ch is hard gutteral "h" sound not unlike the gaelic ch in Loch not a sound like the ch in cheese. I used to direct a Jewish preschool so I know some of these things.
You are not alone - I also have to check the spelling every time.
Happy Honk....yep, this kid has it! I see so many different spellings it's amazing. I google it everytime I try to type the word.
Hannukah. Whatever, it is early but right on time and where it should be.
How can anyone not love HRH? She always makes me laugh! There are many lovely and meaningful celebrations at this time of year. Thanks for spreading some Honk joy, Debra!
A fun look at this wonderful celebrations, and i love Hanukkat!
I ALWAYS misspell it too. Happy Honk!
this holiday name is little funny and hard to remember it's spelling i agree :)
Happy hanukkah !
Happy Hanukkah! The cats are adorable.
It is early this year, isn’t it? Which is nice, as far as I’m concerned. I’ve known it to be as late as December 25, going into the new year. I bought myself a new Chanukiah as the old one has been falling apart. Made some latkes and had a couple of donuts.
I loved the comparison with a phone at 10 per cent lasting eight days! 😉
Priceless! Big Hugs!
