June Full Moon Altar: Sun Goddess with a Side of Pride

The full moon may be tonight but the summer solstice is in a week's time, so grab your sunglasses, sunscreen, beach mat, favourite fun drinks and head out to do some sun worshipping! Our goddess this month is Soleil, the Sun herself, basking in her own heat and radiance!

This sun goddess is a clay sculpture by noted British Columbia artist Ann Swanson Gross (1947-2017). I bought it in Vancouver about 25 years ago and she has embodied the summer solstice for me ever since! Her sun dress is quite cheeky as well --

And I had fun at the Dollar Tree too, finding all the other altar offerings, LOL!

I think Pam might need the flamingo glasses! And I love the Goddess sculpture.

We saw a wonderful full golden moon when I looked out of the window at about 3.00am this morning.
I can't believe that the summer solstice is already nearly here - where does the time go?
Your sun goddess by An Swanson Gross is lovely.

The Dollar Tree comes to the rescue! And I love the idea of Pride and the Summer solstice together!

XOXO

Dollar tree is usually pretty good

The Sun Goddess is not very benevolent here in New Mexico...I can't describe how intense she can be, because without a protective atmosphere we broil. Summer used to be my favorite season...

I have a pair of shorts as cheeky as her dress. Perhaps I should slip into them ...

Lovely modeling in every sense! And soon the solstice. Again.

Are you going to post a picture of you wearing the flamingo glasses?

@ Mike -- That never occurred to me -- I'll see what I can do!

What a fun and colorful altar, Debra! I love the expression on Soleil's face ~ great attitude. I'm always a little sad on the Summer Solstice, because the days will start getting shorter again. Enjoy those hot summer days!

I could never assign a gender to that dangerous being. It is the Sun. I used to think it was male. Now maybe it could be female.
In my second language, all things have gender. It is a big problem. How am i supposed to understand?

Learning Spanish is a big problem.

The Sun is without gender in my opinion .

Well, a rainbow is sunlight reflected and refracted through leftover raindrops, so the connection is appropriate.

You have quite a collection there, don’t you? 😁 We are approaching our winter solstice here. At least the days will be getting longer!

Lovely altar, as always. The statue of Soleil is glorious. She is a powerful deity, not to be toyed with. Like Fundy Blue, I find the Summer Solstice bittersweet. The days shorten and the nights grow longer. But, the Wheel turns and we have another season to enjoy. Thanks for the strong and cheerful altar!

I love celebrating the winter solstice; I don't care much for the summer one. We don't need more sun here; we have heaps.
