Radical Inclusivity

The member groups, issues and concerns of the queer community are expanding all the time. Different and more diverse groups are being acknowledged and included within the basic parameters of race, sexual orientation and gender identity. This is a good thing for our community, as it was when lesbians, bisexuals and trans people asserted their dissatisfaction with queer monoculture. There are many ways to be validly queer and everyone should be heard and respected. Some white cis gay men resent their loss of control at the centre of the movement but they need to "check their privilege" and share power.

Those last three memes -- oops LOL!

If I make another ten years, I wonder what Pride will look like then. Super Rad.

Great collection, here kitty-kitty!

Interesting that even in marginalized groups there are power seekers, but so true. People who insist that only if you do it their way are you doing life right!

So much truth. People forget it was Trans women of color who started Stonewall. No white twink in Banana Republic shorts was throwing stones at the Po-po back then.
White gay men need to check their privilege and shut up. Really. The complaint that 'it keeps getting bigger, we'll soon have an alphabet' is bullshit. Representation matters. And if it takes ten letters to include everyone, then ten letters will be used.
Also, I'm still cackling at the 'who wants to buy 15 lions'.

Happy Pride!

XOXO

This is your best Translesbigayetcpalooza post yet! I guffawed at 'Harder Daddy'! Also 'we're secretly dragons' and well, they are all brilliant.
I might start identifying as gray-ace. I'm gray haired and no longer give a rip about finding a sex partner. The pressure is off!
Thanks for your thoughts on the white, cis, gay men and their narrow definitions of who belongs in the rainbow. We ALL belong!

Gray-aces was a new term I had to look up. Turns out it's a catch-all for variations of asexual.

The BDSM one had me LOLing.

The Republican hatred of all things gay, including the traditional meaning of the word, makes me so tired. They don't want anyone to be happy.

Love,

The world is changing for the better. My husband and I listened to our 11 year old granddaughter explaining Pride Month to her nine year old sister. She did it with knowledge and understanding. There is hope for a world where everyone is accepted for being themselves.

I'd rather be excluded for who I include than included for who I exclude....the last thing a lot of excluders should learn.

All colorful memes and all so true and with a point.

I enjoyed this post most!

Thanks. I love Pride Month.

I often think a reason why there wasn't much diversity is that Latino and especially African American culture was and still is way more homophobic than white. Luckily these numbers are changing.

On other news, my son was born Wednesday

I guess it's picking and choosing one of those categories I kind of have trouble with. I just assume be "queer", though I guess that's a category, too.

Love the BDSM one! And I'm going to steal the "I'd rather be excluded etc" one.

I love these sooo much but the one about the lions cracked me up.

LOL, for sure, Debra! I loved all the buzzy bees. 15 lions and the Irish! Hahaha! Very poignant and very true: "I'd rather be excluded for who I include than be included for who I exclude."

Funny to this day I still feel not pride but pain whenever I read about all accepting and diversity. I have a lifetime of rejection and exclusion from age, build, status, and other things.

Lotsa rainbows. Yay!

There are some of us who know we are only one piece of the pride pie. I ache that not everyone understands that. I hope we do grow to be an entire alphabet. The more inclusive the better. One for all and all for one. Welcome to ALL my queer community and family.
