I did another graphite drawing course in September-October called "Drawing Animals in Pencil." These were all drawn freehand, although I did grid the original kitten and moose photos for extra guidance on positioning. Shading was done with my favourite trio of 2B, 4B and 6B pencils. I enjoyed the course and am happy enough with my results.

You know how much I like when people post their art.
And I think that if one were to draw that kitty from a live model, one would need nerves of steel! LOL
Brilliant - you have a real talent Debra.
I think pencils for art are awfully underrated, I love the look of them. And I must say for not being a artist, these look amazingly good and it's amazing the detail you get just from pencil. You ought to feel proud.
These are beautiful, Debra. I didn’t see live gannets this year. They are incredible creatures! Thank you!
Great work, such a sweet little kitty,
Nice work. Wish I could find a hobby/interest other than cooking.
wow Debra..those are really good...you have so much talent.
So good, Debra. Some of these are really detailed. If I drew them, people would say, What is it? Oh, it's supposed to be that?
Wow! You are really talented ... thanks for sharing the pictures with us!
This is a terrific gallery of drawings. I do love grayscale and you are getting movement and mood going so well.
I love the expressiveness on the drawings! The puppy especially made me go, "aw!"
These are very exceptional pencil drawings. I doff my hat to you.
Grumpy kitten is just too cute!
these are so amazing! i love that puppy!
love & magicks
They are look pretty good. Grumpy cat is adorable.
Have a lovely day.
These are all great! And, I really like the Grumpy Kitty.
Moose? Polar bears? Llamas? It is so nice of you to sketch these portraits of your backyard wildlife.
What is your next art class going to be?
you are very talented! i love that moose.
@ Old Lurker -- I just finished a "line and wash journal" course (permanent ink and watercolour). This week I started a "drawing faces in perspective" course, and next week I start another one that uses coloured art pencils on black paper. Busy, busy, busy! What can I say -- it keeps me off the streets.
@ jaz@octoberfarm -- The moose is my fave too!
Well done!! You should be very proud of yourself!
OMGosh these are stunning. Just stunning.
Your second career is ready to take off.
All your drawings are well done. Being a Canuck, I must admit that my faves are the polar bear and moose, eh!
Thank you, those are very nice. I like birds, so the gannets get a star. I also like llamas and moose, so they get a star.
This way of drawing is fascinating to me. One of my brothers can do it. It is a cool and excellent skill. Everybody gets a star!🌠 because it is a nice thing.
These are fantastic sketches! You are so talented!
You have a gift. I need you here to inspire me to get back to art!
@Debra: Thank goodness for art. I can only imagine the kinds of mischief you might get up to on the streets. I have heard all about those lesbian street gangs. Snow forts! Street brawls! Stealing memes out of people's backyards! Fundraising for the UCP! It is best to keep you busy with pencil and paper.
I like the moose. You didn't want to do its legs and feet, so you put it out to pond.
Oh, I love that grumpy kitten.
Oh I’d love to draw. Yours are amazing
Deb, these are just amazing! You are very talented, and I appreciate your sharing these with us.
Were you channeling HRH for the grumpy kitten drawing?
Damn I'm impressed! Those are really good. I love the moose.
These are fabulous! I especially like polar bear.
I especially like the moose. It's amazing the difference shading makes.
My fav is the gannet.
Wow you are really blessed with gift of talent dear Debra!
I Loved these fantastic drawing. Your art seems majestic and flawless my friend. Specially the treatment of light is awesomely done.puppy's eyes look so real .
These are beautiful.
O.M.G. These are so good. I don't have a darn bit of talent and I am so jealous. I especially love the Moose. Why? Because I don't think I've ever loved a picture of a Moose before.
WOW you have talent mate!
Keep on shining my friend.
Very impressive. I used to draw and sketch and illustrate and you're inspiring me to do so again. Please keep drawing and sharing your work. I love it.
Your drawings are really good, Debra! Your animals feel alive and soulful.
