Friendly Neighbourhood Vikings

Fun Fact -- Vikings LOVE a good buffet!

What Viking babies eat --

The lesser known sequel
to the Poetic Edda:
Sagas of Everyday Viking Life --

No, no -- there's no need to thank me.
Your GROANS are enough!

And finally, for the educational part of this post --

Harald Bluetooth was a
great communicator apparently.

Huh, who knew?

P.S. Speaking of communication,
Vikings can help with your dating life too --

`Every time I see one of those ads for Viking River Cruises on PBS, I wonder if they'd be pissed if a passenger stood in the front with a horned hat and ax shouting "Pillage! Rape! Burn!" as it went along the rivers :-)

@ Lady M -- For the sake of those poor babies' developing tastebuds, I sure hope Cream of Lutefisk isn't real, LOL!

@ Bruce.desertrat -- I believe your name just went on Viking River Cruises' "no sail list."

I live with a Viking. He would LOVE that hammock, but not the Cream of Lutefisk (I can't stop grimacing at the thought of how awful that would be). Those song lyrics are so much better.

I was invested in the grocery store story and then ... Norse with no name. Huge GROAN!

Cream of Lutefisk and Norse with no name. Class

Let us also keep in mind that the term Viking is for a profession, a trade, it does not identify a people or an ethnicity.

Sil, or pickled herring, was a staple in our household. I recently met a young Swedish American who told me that NO ONE eats that anymore. She actually crinkled her nose at the thought of it. HA.

Yes, I'm sure King Harald's rotten teeth caused him to scream blue murder.

I just checked "Manage" for a Finnish blog I followed years ago. Blogs stay up, even if abandoned, unless someone takes it down. I cannot find the blog in question; it is gone. Cream of Lutefish would have been mentioned.

Favorites this time are the Viking hammock and the graduation ceremony, and I learned something new about Bluetooth.

I'll bet Cream of Lutefisk is also an effective preventative against the measles.

Anything Viking related is good content.

Bluetooth, I KNEW I KNEW! 😆

Funny! Bluetooth one was interesting.

They were so friendly that the Irish have a considerable amount of Scandinavian in their 23andMe results

The hammock is fantastic! Oh, the dreams one would have in that.
The bluetooth explanation is wonderful. I had no idea.
I laughed like a loon at the Norse with no name!
I'm easy to please and easy to amuse, I guess...
Thanks, D, for the high quality meme content!
:^)

Oh Mom, i don't want to go the monk house today. Me and Fafnir just want to go to the meadow and watch the sheep and play around.

The Board of Directors here at Spo-reflections is a bit peeved and plans to pop by to discuss things
I would advise you to lock up the liquor they're means drunks.

Richard said...

I am going to travel
across the whole internet
to give Baili a hug.
Because why not?

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Ur-spo -- My plan is to drink all the liquor first because I'm an even MEANER drunk. The Board of Directors don't skeer me none. Hand me my Amazon axe.

Richard said...

Oh just stop it. Enough with the Vikings. I appreciate my ancestors, you could test my DNA anytime, but that is not the point.
I am an actual living descendant, and i came here to tell you that times have changed.
We never liked those Vikings anyway. And we like them even less now that they turned fascist.

Vikings are a really good conversation starter, though I imagine in real life they ended quite a few conversations.
