Rather than a front view or profile depiction of a face,
here's a recent graphite drawing showing a
back view of a woman's face and hair instead.
I'm particularly pleased with
how her trench coat turned out.
Trench coats are certainly a standard item
of professional/corporate outerwear attire.
I wore a couple of them all through my career.
But I haven't worn one since I retired six years ago!
They seem too formal for my casual lifestyle now.

...I remember when trench coats were popular, I had a London Fog. I haven't seen one in years.

Trench coats are timeless; I just looked at on a fashion magazine sites the latest model of it. The shoulders are quite large.

You captured not only the look of a trenchcoat, but the feeling as well! I was immediately transported to a dark street and an even darker assignation!! Ooh, assignation...is that a great word for trenchcoat activity or what?! I can't see her face, but I just know her eye makeup is smoky! 🤫
I'll say, you really did pick up on a lot of details in the trench.
Hello Debra, A remarkable drawing with the texture of that coat--it almost looks like a photograph that has been processed by a computer! When I got rid of all my old office clothes, the only thing I kept was the trench coat, thinking that such a long coat is potentially still useful for Cleveland's cold and wind.

Feeling the noire vibes. This got me thinking about trench coats. So yes.
I had to go look it up. Because I use the word noire maybe I am using it wrong. The definition I found today was- cynicism, fatalism, ambiguous morality. OK. Sometimes words are like Ouija Boards.
I always associate trench coats with detectives, from watching too many old movies I guess. Good black-and-white drawing, which makes it even more like an old movie.
Never worn a trench coat - never had the sort of job that required it.
It takes skill to know which details to pick out and which to ignore. Lovely drawing.

You really did a wonderful job with the trench coat, Debra! I don't wear my two trenches often either, for the same reasons and because they're more like trench jackets than coats, but sometimes they're perfect for the weather. (Not at the moment, because it's been freezing cold here and we had our first snowfall today.)
And the telephone cable sheep from your previous post are just STUNNINGLY funny :-DDD

The texture and drape of fabric is so important in a drawing or painting. Sometimes I find that part of the work more captivating than the faces, so your piece is perfect! A hint of the face and the rest is the folds and gathers of the coat. Very nice!

my eyes are captivated each time how you amazingly you draw with pencil and graphite ,they look more fascinating than colored ones to me :)
