Friday Face OFF -- Audrey Hepburn

For this week's Friday Face OFF link party
of art featuring faces, hosted by Nicole of

Here's a drawing of Audrey Hepburn
that I did a couple of months ago
in my ink and wash art class.

I drew her in water-soluble black ink
which then, through use of a wet brush,
became the source of the ink wash for shading.

I should have used a lighter touch
with the ink wash on her ear.

It looks kind of sore and inflamed.

Sorry, Audrey!

You did a very nice job. I don't think the ear looks bad, just very shadowed.

Possibly, but I couldn't begin to do something as good as that.

Ha! I didn't notice the "inflammation" till you pointed it out -- and really, I think you're selling yourself short. It's lovely, Debra. And thank you for coming by today, too!

Audrey Hepburn had such a lovely face that she was one of very few people who could looked great wearing a very short pixie hair cut.

Nice job but yes the ear does look a bit inflammed. Maybe she froze it? Did you watch Breakfast at Tiffanys? I hated it and quit half way through. Cannot stand mindless female characters. Loved her in My Fair Lady and have yet to watch Roman Holiday

Poor Audrey and her inflamed ear - that cracked me up.

It's obvious who it is, despite the inflamed ear! Your talent is amazing.

@ The Blog Fodder -- You know, I've never seen "Breakfast at Tiffanys" or "Roman Holiday." I should get around to watching them someday. I have seen "My Fair Lady" though and enjoyed her performance and (dubbed) singing.

Wow! She is gorgeous. I have never tried the water-soluble black ink. It has a very nice effect. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a nice weekend.

I thought her ear was in shade so it didn't look too dark to me.

I doubt she'd be insulted. She'd be honored. It looks like a sophisticated and striking Audrey to me. You capture her well.

Beautiful, Debra! Her ear looks like an elf ear. I'm thinking Arwen.
