This month's altar honours the Nile Goddess, whose small figurines have been found by archaeologists in graves and tombs throughout Egypt and Libya. Her image is 6,000 years old, predating the pyramids and pharaohs. I have placed her on an altar cloth representing desert sand and the banks of the river Nile. The life-sustaining river is also represented by the blue ribbon and candles. Behind the Goddess is a pyramidical structure (because, even though anachronistic in this setting, nothing represents Egypt like the pyramids!) The intersecting circles of the candlesticks create vesica piscis ovals, the ancient sacred geometry vulva symbol of the Divine Feminine.
The Goddess' pose forms the Egyptian hieroglyph which means "The Soul." A Goddess of primal divine power, she does not have a human face but instead, the head of a bird or serpent. Her presence in graves and tombs suggests she is a Goddess of Regeneration and Rebirth, helping to guide the dead on the sacred journey to their next life.
After creating this altar, life took a very synchronistic turn. Out of the blue, I was contacted about an old friend's passing. Born in Egypt but living abroad as an adult in France and Canada, she was a lifelong priestess of the Goddess, devoted to the Divine Feminine who was her constant muse in both art and writing. When I first came to Edmonton 28 years ago, I was part of her spiritual circle of five women. In a few days, we surviving three Circle Sisters will meet at our friend's graveside to drum and sing in her honour as she returns to the Great Mother of All.
We all come from the Goddess
And to her we shall return
Like a drop of rain
Flowing to the ocean

How lovely that you three will get together to remember your friend.
...it was bright last night and should be brighter this evening.
This is a moving moon observance. Thank you.
For some reason, this Goodess really really resonated with me. Her power is evident even from this distance, and the way you have created her altar is stunning. I will read more about her, and who knows, maybe get to know her better. Sorry to hear about your friend's passing, and glad that the rest of you are getting together to celebrate her, and the Goddess!
Synchronicity. A beautiful altar now dedicated to your friend. How wonderful that you’re meeting up with the Circle Sisters.
Hello Debra, I am so sorry you lost this special friend. Your Nile Goddess altar is indeed a special tribute to her.

A lovely way to honor her. The altar is the perfect accompaniment for the Sturgeon Moon, which is supposed to provide the same kind of light for two more nights.
😊 I love the spiritual things you post. Even though I am a firm believer in the randomness of the universe, I do love your goddess altars because they reach out to grab the benefits when the randomness veers back in their direction...as it always does eventually and quite unexpectedly. 🤗🥰
Nicely shot photos, Debra! You are a woman of many talents.
I am sorry to hear about your friend. Your plans to honor her sound lovely.
I am sorry about the loss of your friend. What a beautiful way to remember her.
What a beautiful way to remember and honour your friend!
Qué bonita es, me encanta. Excelente post para recordarla. Emotivo. Un abrazo
as always your altars are a thing of beauty and very informative...... i have travelled on the river nile and been to the pyramids and many other egyptian sites of interest..... the fertility of the belt of land around the nile is very obvious, even when you're floating down it sipping cocktails!! I was surprised at a couple of things in egypt, how close the pyramids are to cairo, and how you can see the edges of the fertile belt of land running down the sides of the river...... almost like sand dunes marking the edge of the sea
Sorry for your loss of your friend. Your tribute to her sounds nice and beautiful.
Synchronicity, indeed. I'm sure the drum and chant circle at her grave will be felt beyond the veil.
Your full moon altars never fail to resonate. This one is beautiful - as they all are.
xo
Waving farewell to a woman who was in touch with better things than money and the material things it can buy.
A deeply moving tribute, weaving ancient symbolism with personal memory to honour both the Goddess and your friend’s enduring spirit
A very beautiful post.
Debra
Like everyone else, I thought this was a lovely post.
Sorry to hear about the death of your friend.
Interesting..... and that looks like a good gathering.
Thank you for sharing about your friend. She certainly had a special friend in you. You are amazing.
I'm sorry about your friend Debra!
I'm glad you're getting together to honor her,
it's very touching!!
Before the pyramids! Shows you don't need a "civilization" to create art.
