Pride and Prejudice Bicentennial

This year marks the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I'm going to be celebrating the book and its characters this week on my blog. Well, actually, one character in particular. You know who.

So, why don't we all get our dog-eared copies of this classic novel down from the bookshelf and start off our marathon reading session with that famous first line: "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."

Tomorrow: First Editions? D'oh!

I shall get my own cat to start reading it, pronto.

Is this where I admit I haven't read it?

Well, let's see....I shan't read the book again but I did just watch it on the telly two nights ago....close but no cigar. I do believe that this olde broad can keep up though. Maybe...with the help of my cats. Oma Linda

Both of those pictures are so cute. It's been a lot of years since I read Pride and Prejudice. Not quite 200 but a lot.

hope I can find the audio version. I can't get Phoebe to sit still with her eyes open.

I may just have to dig this one out again; it's been a long time. Although, I don't have any of the right clothes, unlike cat Betsy.

I just downloaded this on to my Kindle. (freebie!) I suppose it's time to read it.

I really don't have the concentration to read this again, but could do a movie marathon! All the versions, one week at a time...

Love the first graphic, very appropriate! My kittens and I have not graduated yet to such a wordy tome as Pride and Prejudice. We are only just now starting "Puss N Boots". It might be a while before we are ready for Jane Austen.

I hate to admit it but I have not read the book. And yet...I know the whole story. Perhaps my own cats have been reading this to me while I sleep? :)

I love P&P and strangely enough had a dream with Colin Firth in it last night, I'm serious! Those kitties are the perfect Jane Austen complements.

I'm a huge Jane Austen fan and have read most of her books. Even though I love Pride and Prejudice, my favorite has to be Persuasion.

Your cat pictures are hilarious - especially the first. It's been so long since I've read P&P! I'm looking forward to your celebration of the book! Have a good day!

Love the images! Oops don't have a copy but I have seen the film. I do have a dvd of the BBC version of Sense & Sensibility (my favorite) and Persuasion.

What a coincidence, I'm heading off on my holidays tomorrow and Pride and Prejudice is always the first thing I read when I go to the beach!

Not reading Jane Austen (guess I should be), but the one kitty or the other always helps me read -- daily!
