Stuff Around My Home -- Balcony Update

Three years ago when I first bought all my balcony furniture, I wrote about it in a fascinating post entitled "My Balcony". Long-time readers with eidetic memories may remember my eye-poppingly bright aqua-blue chairs and table --

Since then, I've toned them down somewhat by purchasing stripey blue-and-beige foam cushions as well. The cushions also make the chairs much more comfortable to sit in while enjoying coffee and a book.

I set up my balcony last week for 2020 summertime use. Now I have a whole extra room to enjoy self-isolating in, plus fresh air!

The cushions look good and I bet you will get a lot of use out of the balcony now! Enjoy.

Hello Debra, Your balcony looks so bright and cheerful. My balcony is the only place that I can put my washer and dryer, so no decorative uses for me.

looks inviting; pour me a cuppa, I'll bring my knitting.

A balcony is awesome! Especially now that we're sheltering in place.
I like the idea of the cushions. They should make the chairs more comfy. I think having a place to read is essential in every house.

XOXO

Nice outdoor space! Ours was glassed in when the building was built, I often wish it was open.

It looks comfortable. I have not used my balcony in years. The furniture is rusted and old. I should get some new pieces and sit outside.

I love the bright blue, but yes to cushions because 'older' butts. :)
Enjoy!

Wow, you're high up. Well, nobody's getting within six feet of you up there!

Some good information in that earlier balcony post. I wonder if that holographic tape works on bugs. We don't seem to have pigeons where I live, though they're abundant downtown.

I have a couple of chairs very similar to those, dark green though. They kind of need the cushions.

I do remember those!!!! And I still love them.

Very nice, any space with fresh air at the moment has added value.

I, sadly, had not yet discovered your blog in '17, so I had to go look ~ you've done wonders with it!! I love the blue, and those cushions do look comfy. Great place for a glass of wine!

Very nice. When I was single I had an apartment with a nice balcony. I had two nice pink lounging chairs and a table. I used to make a pitcher to margaritas on Sunday and sit outside drinking in the shade. Good times.

Is the cat allowed on the balcony? We once took our single story dog to a vacation home with a 2nd story deck. She saw a squirrel and took a flying leap down to the ground. I was surprised she didn't break her dang neck.

Such a pretty room it is too!

The cushions make the room.. or umm balcony. I'm surprised, for some reason I pictured you in a cosy little house in a friendly neighborhood somewhere.

Those cushions really add a pop of color without overdoing it. Not to mention they look so much more comfortable now. :)

I completely understand. My terrace has become my outside sanctuary.

Can I invite myself for a cup or glass (wearing a mask of course) even though it's a long way from Yorkshire to Alberta. Essential travel. Regarding the mask, which would you prefer, Batman, Mickey Mouse or Lone Ranger?

The balcony is a lifesaver at a time like this. Fresh air and sunshine at a safe social distance. Yours is beautiful too so enjoy your time outside!

I love the look. So inviting. Glad you can enjoy it now!

I still love your balcony! The addition of the cushions is a grand choice. They look snazzy and I'm sure they increase the comfort of the chairs.
In these crazy times it's a luxury to have private outdoor space. I'm glad you've got yours!

You look like your high, but not too high. If there's a fire, how good are you at repelling down the side of the building? Here's where you get the equipment.

Why did I always picture yours as a country cabin surrounded by trees?

it is a lovely place for you to sit and enjoy the fresh air with some warm sunny weather. Hope you have plenty of good books to read and a large pot of coffee.

Nice!
Those chairs are a beautiful shade of blue. It's almost a shame to cover them with cushions.

I guess I don't have an eidetic memory, Debra. I actually went back and looked at your previous blog, even finding my comment on it ~ oops! I used to tell my kiddos at school that I forgot things because my brain was so crammed with stuff that every time I learned something new, something old was pushed out. They never bought it ~ LOL Your new cushions are a big improvement. My grandfather MacDonald was a carpenter and built a number of these chairs. They were always so hard to sit on. Puffy cushions would have been a big improvement! I love your "fake" theme. That works best for me too. Do you still have your cement bunny? All the best to you and Your Rare One!

Nice furniture. We don't have a balcony, but we have a garden, thankfully.

I love this space you have. I would be there all the time. I love spaces like this.

Look what isolation did for you. Gave you a whole new perspective on those butt ugly chairs. YIKES. That is the first chairs that get hit when a sniper in in the neighborhood. They are horrid. They scream...look at me. I am going to jump.

The cushions look great and they really add warmth to the chairs! Your balcony is very pretty! This brings back memories of my mom’s retro turquoise leather chairs from the late 50s/early 60s. I really wish I held onto them, but I didn’t have enough storage space.

Are you plants fake?? They don't look like they have grown much? LOL!

@ Magic Love Crow -- Yes, they are all quite, quite fake!

The aqua is beautiful. Blue is usually my favorite color for decorating. My deck is falling apart, but Carol and I still manage to sit outside to read. We won't be able to do so much longer because the mosquitoes have started attacking us.

Love,
Janie

Great cushion choice! I am sure you will get extra use of your outdoor furniture this year with the lack of places and things to do away from home. We bought furniture for our front porch last month and it has already seen tons of use!
