Friday Face OFF -- Man Waiting For His Wife

For this week's Friday Face OFF link party
of art featuring faces, hosted by Nicole of

Here's a graphite drawing
I did earlier this year of a man
patiently waiting on an outdoor bench
for his wife to arrive and take him home
(done in HB, 2B, 4B and 6B pencils).

Actually, this guy was a classmate
of ours in the drawing class.

Our instructor snapped his photo after a class
and then surprised us all in the next class
with the assignment of drawing him!

Another great drawing. I love the background story, too.

I wonder if he now knows how famous and featured he may be??? To have so many draw him.

@ Mistress Maddie -- He was a student in the art class so the next week he had to draw himself along with the rest of us!

So many cloth folds! I know that's your favorite.

@ Old Lurker -- Yeah, that one arm almost killed me.

That looks great! I really like the shading on his hoodie!

LOL ... He was looking a bit suspicious of the picture taker! I wonder how his self-portrait turned out.
I would say your rendering looks pretty darned good!!

He looks happy enough, and not at all impatient that his wife hasn't arrived yet. No need for a marriage counselor there.

Fabulous drawing, Debra, love how you shadowed hed folds, fantastic. I wish you a great weekend and a merry Christmas, hugs, Valerie
PS I got a wonderful tin box filled with graphite pencils and sticks for my birthday, so lovely!

Hello Debra, This is a great drawing, but I would not have guessed "waiting for a ride." No one looks this happy while waiting. For a touch of realism, you could have had him looking at his watch.

I especially like his neck and the wrinkles in his sleeves.

You should have given him a double chin just for fun. 😁

There you are, sweetheart! Did you find something good, can we go home now? This bench is breaking my ass.

I liked it better when we were not having to think about Christianity all of the time.
What? I am from Los Angeles. And we are grumpy. Extremely grumpy.
We are so grumpy that we are ready to put Donald Trump in to the manure heap of history.

Poor little Jesus
How was he found
Shot through the heart
Laying cold on the ground.

I think you forget
How blood thirsty we are.

Probably you forgot to remember us.
Maybe you have turned into a Jesus cult

I don't know. I resist Christianity. You can all play with Trump pelota .
Me, my team, we have a goal.

This drawing is incredible. Pretty soon, you will have to figure out what to do with all the money you make selling your art.
