You Are Here

It's a big ol' universe out there and getting bigger every day.

Did you know that the ancient Greeks named the Milky Way for spillage from the lactating breasts of the Great Mother Goddess? Yes, we live in the midst of a powerful symbol of Her bounty and generosity.

Getting closer now! Third rock from the sun.

Home sweet home at last! Happy Earth Day, everyone!

[I don't know who produced these fabulous posters but I first saw them awhile ago over at Calvin's Canadian Cave of Cool]

It's surprising to see how tiny the earth is in the scheme of things in the universe. But it's the only planet I want to call home.

The sun is out, maybe it will get over 10c... I will pick up garbage in the alley... And drink tea on the deck!

And today I can celebrate by getting this year's fruits and veggies ready to be sewn into the garden.

It can make one feel insignificant when thinking about the vast expanse out there. But as they say "there's no place like home"

And to you too Debra!!
I love this stuff and knowing we are just a tiny particle in the whole schematic picture!!

How do they know where we are in the Milky Way Galaxy? Do they use GPS? Or better yet, did they send out a team of surveyors to make sure we are in that exact spot.

Anywho, Happy Earth Day.

Hi Debra! Thanks for your Earth Day post! For the first time in ages, I am not participating in Earth Day activities in school and reading my kiddos "The Lorax." I enjoyed your images of the univers and solar system very much ~ also your bee with the little witch's hat! Have a good one!

Happy Earth Day, Debra.
Mother Earth is small by comparison to other planets.
But She's all we have and we have to take care of her because she takes care of us.
Great post.

Happy Earth Day ;o) Great post ;o)

I did not know that about the Milky Way. How did that get buried in history? Like James Brown said, it's a man's, man's, man's world.
