Nap Time!

Yes, I've reached the age where
I often need a nap during the day in
order to function for my full
16 hours of daily consciousness.

It makes me feel old,
that's for sure.

I used to see my grandparents and, later, my parents
nodding off for a quick nap and think:
"That will never happen to ME!"

I try not to nap too long, however.
Short naps are best and more refreshing.

The following is my HUSTLE mantra now, LOL!

I bet YOU enjoy a nice nap too, don't you?

Hey, I know the demographics of my readers, LOL!

It has been a beast of a work week, a nap sounds like such a wonderful idea. Love the Cat, I look like that often.

I’m not really a daytime napper when at home. I have found myself dropping off when I’m with my mother, who also drops off. Not intentional!

I insist I don't nap, and then I do the ol' snort/snore that wakes me up on the couch and take a look around to see if anyone else heard it. They always do.

Be old, sit in a chair. Works every time!

HA! Are we all old? Probably.
I don't nap often, but if I do I really only need 20-30 to recharge my batteries!

Wait -- not one single endorsement from HRH for your cat naps?! Tsk tsk tsk... to think you fed and housed that ungrateful feline for all of her nine lives!

The only time I USE to nap was when I was sick!
Now, retired, OLD [77], after lunch ... scooch down on the couch, lean back and the ZZZZs come all too quickly nowadays!
Naps are usually an hour long ... some snores, some snorts, some drool! Always worth it! LOL
Love the cat, too!!!

Hello Debra, I am not good at taking naps. I can't fall asleep usually, but if I do I wake up with a headache.

After 22 years in the military and a decade in Alaska I finally retired. Ten years late, during a senior moment, I decided accept a job back teaching in Alaska. Every day about one-o-clock in the afternoon I would think: What the fuck am I doing here? I could be back in Maine taking a nap.
Now I am back in Maine and three hours away from nap time.

Sitting down to read or watch a movie often makes me fall asleep. I an now trying to avoid too many day naps so as not to mess up my sleep pattern at night.

Well, a siesta is officially part of every day here in Andalusia. SG almost never misses his. I try to avoid mine, but sometimes I can't resist, especially in this pandemic year!

I only take power naps.

When I was young, I wondered how my dad could waste a Sunday afternoon sleeping. As I grew older I wondered why anyone would waste a Sunday afternoon staying awake. Now I too need a nap because I cannot survive on 8 hours sleep.

It's really bad when you're old. You try to take an afternoon nap and it eats into your nightly sleep time. Then you wake up the next day and think you only slept a couple of hours and it's still yesterday. I hate when that happens.

Once I got old enough to be able to take a nap and wake up without a headache, I never looked back. I still can't do a chair nap, but I do love a cozy bed, a sleepy time podcast, and a good nap any time of day.

I don't nap in the day but I have noticed that I need a longer sleep at night than I used to!

No joke, I was pondering either taking a nap or reading blog entries just now.

I will now go for a 20 minute snooze. :D

Still in work force, so nap isn't possible. But I hardly make up much after nine these days.
Coffee is on and stay safe

I joke about taking naps all the time but seldom do. If I do sit down and close my eyes I don't sleep.

I’ve forgotten what an all-nighter is!! I love an afternoon nap. When I was working I ocassionally drove to a nearby park at lunch time, ate my lunch then had a nap, I called them power naps then:-) I had to set the alarm on my phone though!!

I wish I could nap sometimes. Impossible with a child.

Good morning Debra......What a funny post. Brad and I, do indeed, nap every day. We all lay down around 3 or so (that included Skyler as well) and either read or actually fall asleep until around 4:30. It is so very healthy for you as it does lower your blood pressure while you are resting and that is never a bad thing in this crazy world of ours. hahah

I don't nap regularly but when I go to bed, I do so with the intention of staying as long as possible.

I enjoy naps. When I first began to beef then, I was annoyed—they took away time I could use to do things—then I grew wiser, all right, I grew exhausted—and was just grateful for a bit of middle of the day shut eye. Also, what Robin said.

Trouble is, if I nap, I wake up wanting to stay asleep, and then I can't sleep at night. So I try to avoid actually falling asleep while doing a good impression of being asleep.

Ha! I had a coworker, an artist, who used to crawl under my desk after lunch to nap.

Don't know why my desk...she said it had more space.

one of my favorite short stories has the following line:

Sometimes naps happen. I don't seek them out intentionally because then I don't sleep well at night.

Oh how I wish! I cannot nap, although I fell into an exhausted three-hour nap on Tuesday that shocked me. Love that kitty. That's exactly how I looked and felt when I woke up at 5:45 pm and had to cobble together a heart health dinner in short order. May you have lovely naps this weekend, Debra!
