Yes!
I was talking to someone about global warming. They told me all trash goes to the same place and recycling is a waste of time. I moved right away.
I can't believe we still have to have this conversations!!!

XOXO

Happy Earth Day. Let's all do something good for the Earth today. Which includes letting her alone and finding out what she needs rather than what we assume. Peace!

Ten thousand years ago the world human population is estimated to have been two million. In 1800 the world population reached one billion; 1927 two billion; 1960 three billion; 1974 four billion; 1987 five billion; 1999 Six billion; 2012 seven billion, today we are approaching eight billion........
We are the pollution that is destroying the environment.

Still, we should celebrate the earth while we still have some remaining natural ecosystems.

Happy Earth Day Debra!!!! I shall have a walk today at the lake. I came across my rock you sent and it reminded me of Earth Day actually...so thank you! I am thinking of adding it to a terrarium when I start it...thanks to Sixpense.

Out of 365 days there is only ONE Happy Earth Day!?!? How about 364 days of Happy Earth Day and only ONE day of ... let's see how we are doing!!
Every day should be a day of trying to do our level best to make our Home the very best it can be! Humans have abused the planet for far too long ... a rapid speed up is needed to try and correct what we have gotten so wrong for far too long!
Happy Thursday!!!

Hello Debra, Yes the Santa one is the best. I would try to think something hopeful for today, but to tell the truth, I don't think Malthus went far enough in his predictions.

I continue to separate my waste streams but it is a stupid thing to do. The raccoon is right.

You covered it all, Debra.
Happy Earth Day.

When I was a child, in the 40's and 50's, my parents taught us to leave any outdoor space "cleaner than we found it". My two daughters were taught the very same thing. One of them does it, ones does not. I wish it were different.

Thanks, Debra, a very thoughtful post! I do like the Santa one especially, though I suspect those solar panels would end up in the hard rubbish pile, to go to landfill.

There really are too many of us. 🙁

Why is it so hard to put the friggin' trash into the friggin' trash can? I don't get it.

Perhaps we could suggest that Sunday be renamed Earthday. People could go outside and do work that would make their god(s), goddess(es), or conscious happy!

I am one of those nutjobs who rummages through the rubbish to pull out plastic bottles, empty the water and put the bottles in recycling.

This post makes me terribly sad, because I thought we'd be doing much better by now. Sad, but not hopeless, rather more determined. Science deniers of any ilk are incomprehensible to me. Have a great weekend, Debra!

Darling Debra,

Some thought provoking images and sentiments you present for us here.

We thought that, perhaps, as the pandemic has given the world time to reflect and that Nature has been embraced by so many as a source of renewal and hope that there would be a new dawn post pandemic for the Earth.

We cling to this thought....

Happy Earth Day, friend D ... I know, I'm late, but then again ... Earth Day is every day. Here is hoping, that you and your loved ones are still happy and healthy ... My family and I are so far. Sending love, cat.

The comment about the recycle stuff ending up in the land fills is unfortunately not far from truth. That happens too often and has been documented many times. We need to invest more in managing recycling.

Is it horrible that the jab a bp made me laugh like a crazy person? I hope not. Unless that puts me on the naughty list. If laughing at the nerve of bp puts me on the naughty list, then know that I laughed like a maniac. I could really use a few solar panels...

Went for a walk up Arabia Mountain on my birthday with my husband and son.
Son is all grown up now but can you believe my pride when he spotted some garbage on that gorgeous mountain and he went OUT of his way to pick it up and carry it down the mountain? That is one cool guy in my book! Always!
