Full Moon Altars: Introduction

I had so much fun in December creating my Winter Solstice Altar that I've decided to continue making new monthly altars as a kind of spiritual practice. Now that I'm no longer facilitating my drumming circle and my favourite local labyrinth has ceased being available for walking, I'm feeling the need for another outlet through which to focus these energies.

Each monthly altar will have a theme built around an aspect of the Divine Feminine or a spiritual value of some description. And I'm just bursting with ideas! Also, bursting with Goddess statues -- I'm a collector and currently have about 75 to choose from. I won't run out for a while, LOL!

I intend to post a photo and description of each altar on that month's Full Moon. So January's altar will be posted next Thursday, but I just wanted to give a little introduction first as to what I am doing in this new blog series.

Looking forward to it! We have a local drum circle on the beach here. I'm not sure if they are still doing it right now but I'd be afraid to go now anyway. It will be nice when I can get back to it.

This is such a great idea!
I'm totally looking forward to this. Every full moon? Sounds fantastic. I'm all for positive energy now that I don't feel that there's a weight over us (and the US).

XOXO

What a good idea. I'll be excited to see your altar change month to month. Mine seldom changes except to add the odd one or two things for the season/time.

OMG!! I've been doing the same thing. It's actually quite fulfilling. CHanging my alter makes me feel better. It gives me something to really think about.

Hello Debra, Did you know that in Taiwan one of the most honored deities is the goddess Matsu? There are temples devoted to her all over the island.

@ Parnassus (Jim) -- I have not heard of Matsu before. I just checked her out on Wikipedia. Thanks for telling me about her!

So I say to myself, self, how many goddesses do we think there are? The Google can help me find out, right? Ah HA! Wikipedia knows all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_goddesses
I was going to count them. Maybe later.

I hope you don't plan on mooning us at any of these altars -- leave such behaviour to HRH, eh?

@ Mike -- Looks like I've got a lot more collecting to do, LOL!

What a wonderful idea! I think I will join you. My primary altar is in my bedroom, but I think an altar on the hearth is a lovely addition. It is a good way to foster focus and centeredness.

(Also, I may not have as many images of the Divine Feminine, the One Goddess of Many Faces, but Quan Yin is in every room of the house minus the bathrooms.)

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ e -- Another altar devotee, so great! And having Quan Yin energy in every room of the house is wonderful!
