The Winter Solstice is always a time of contemplation and reflection. The Wheel turns, the Seasons change, the Light returns. So what better time to consult the tarot or an oracle deck for a little wisdom and guidance?
For that purpose, here's a special Winter Solstice Spread by wise woman and tarot artist Joanna Powell Colbert --
Pull a tarot or oracle card to spark a response, then finish the following sentences:
- The gift of the nurturing darkness is ...
- The promise of the returning sun is ...

OMG
Totally doing this!!!! Now, where's that Tarot deck I got two years ago??
Happy Winter Solstice!
XOXO
I always look forward to the winter solstice. I may ever hibernate and take some time off this year from the blog and the social scene.
Thought-provoking sentences. This will take some pondering.
Good time to be resting and letting the thoughts wander around! Thank you for the post.
Oh how I love the winter solstice!
Merry Solstice, Deb!
Either today or tomorrow should be January 1st. The pagans were right!
Happy solstice friend.
I love Joanna Powell Colbert, I've followed her for years now. Very thought provoking questions, for sure. Happy Solstice, Debra.
Yay for Solstice!
I like that. I'm pondering my answers.
Love,
Janie
It is longest day of the year here. Tropical weather in cold climate here
Thank you so much, Debra. A blessed Winter Solstice to you!
A Winter Solstice spread! How lovely and insightful on this important, sacred day. I will shuffle the deck!
Solstice blessings to you and yours, Debra. 💜

We have had plenty of sun during this winter, but it is the thought of longer brighter days that I yearn for. Happy Winter Solstice to you and yours Debra.
Our solstice has resulted in the weather turning wet again
I can only hope that we get a late summer. It will be nice to get a some free vitamin D
This is such a good direction!
@ L -- 48 years! So wonderful! Happy Anniversary and hugs to your both!
Think how depressing this time of year would be if there wasn't a major holiday--be it Yule or Christmas--to take our minds off of such limited sun. And of course, with the arrival of the Winter Solstice, the promise the sun will not be so limited in the future.
Welcome winter, and welcome Yule!
How beautiful and inspiring. Happy Solstice!
Fabulous spread! I'll have to try this one out. Solstice blessings to you, Debra!

Happy belated Winter Solstice!! I am so looking forward to more sunshine.
Thank you for the solstice cards! Much appreciated. I understand that SheWhoSeeks headquarters is located in Winnipeg on the freezing windy Canadian prairies. I hope that you all are snug and warm and have plenty of tasty food. Thanks again.
@ Richard -- You're right that my SheWhoSeeks HQ certainly used to be in Winnipeg, Manitoba, city of ice and snow, for 22 years! But now my HQ is even further north in Edmonton, Alberta, city of freezing windchill, for the past 25 years now! Sheesh, will I ever live anywhere with decent weather?
Okh my god that is a lot of years. I think i better be a nicer person.
These are lovely ideals and thoughts to carry with us. Thanks Deb!
I love the winter solstice, Debra. That photo of the snowflake is breathtaking. One year I tried photographing snowflakes with my students. It's very difficult to do, so kudos to the photographer. The WS spread is inspiring.
