All funny.
All true.
We spent a week in an IKEA one day.

Love the glass of wine 😄

I just ask my daughter...she doesn't even need the instructions on putting their things together 😎

I want the Paradox set… and djungelskog. And a big glass of wine.

The memes are only funny because they're all true! I had a friend that actually kept the damn piece boxed and use it as a table for a month.I can't with Ikea , that store and their shit drives me nuts. The only thing they're missing is selling Crocs!!!!

I do enjoy an afternoon in the habitrail at IKEA. I never know what I need until I see it there.

I laughed out loud at the first and last ones. I needed that this morning, Debra. Thank you.

Love these, especially the last one:)

We we lived back east we would sometimes drive to the nearest Ikea just to browse and eat meatballs. Usually on a winter day when there wasn't much else to do. Occasionally made a purchase (like a bag of meatballs to take home).

P.S. Love the Paradox.

Hahahaha
OMG I still love IKEA.
If it weren't for IKEA, I would have no furniture in my house... LOL

XOXO

Difficult for me to relate to any of these since I have never been in an IKEA store! 🤷

JM said...

I love IKEA. But yes the instructions are difficult. And I have often gotten lost in the maze. But I do love their Swedish meatballs.

Hey, Ikea single-handedly gave birth to the flat pack assembly service!

Old Lurker said...

Oh no. Djunkelskog has a posse: https://old.reddit.com/r/Djungelskog/ . Clearly he has feasted well on berries and grubs, and is well-prepared for w****r.

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Marcia LaRue -- So YOU'RE the holdout on the entire planet!

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Old Lurker -- Thanks for the link! Gawd, there's a sub-reddit for EVERYTHING, isn't there!

Parnassus said...

I haven't been to Ikea in years, although I was thinking of checking them out. Apparently the one here has the same nightmare design as in other countries.

Ohhh good ones. The first one, Soilent Green. Have a nice day.

Liz Hinds said...

That paradox one! Did you know there are no windows in IKEA stores?

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Liz Hinds -- I guess they don't want anything to distract you from the merchandise!

Can you believe I've never been to IKEA? And we have one here in St. Louis. My daughter used to drive to Chicago with friends to make an IKEA run before we got ours.
And I LOVE putting things together. But most of the stuff I bought in the past was boxed by Sauder. I've helped many friends and relatives assemble things.

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Mike -- You and Marcia LaRue who left a similar comment above MUST get together for a road trip to IKEA!

My daughter in law is brilliant with ikea so she comes over and helps me
But during the pandemic we ordered a couch and had to put it together ourselves
Just hubby and me. It was scary. But we did it without any arguments.
That should be the test. Before marriage. But together ikea furniture. If there are no arguments. You get the green light to marry lol

I love going to Ikea for the cinnamon buns. Yummy!

Marcia LaRue said...

You betcha, baby! LOL

Marcia LaRue said...

Nope ... I decline before even being asked! Sorry, Mike! Sorry, Debra! If I never go, perhaps I will live another 80 years! LOL

The Happy Whisk said...

You got an honest lol outloud from me on that last one. That's a hoot.

Busy Bee Suz said...

I'm so spoiled. I can't imagine having to put a piece of furniture together!! I'd go there just to see that HUGE teddy bear guy.

This is why I lived with a grandchild.

Old Lurker said...

I am also a holdout. So there are three of us. What a coincidence that the only three holdouts all read your blog?

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Old Lurker -- Clearly my blog appeals to rebels who do not bow to mainstream orthodoxy. That pleases me!

Iris Flavia said...

Long time I´ve been at IKEA.
Fun ones :-)

Kirk said...

I've never tried to put a piece of Ikea furniture together, and this post certainly doesn't make me want to!

The beast at the center of the labyrinth and the 3 glasses of wine made me laugh for realz! I hate Ikea. Have you ever tried taking one of the 'shortcuts'? They do not lead to an exit! Bastards!

Rosemary said...

Once you have learn't how to take short cuts through Ikea for the bit that you want, then it's a piece of cake. I steer clear of furniture that requires assembly but there are things that I like from Ikea - their free cups of coffee, kitchen wear, table wear, and bedlinen.

Rostrose said...

Haha, dear Debra,
I love the Ikea meatballs - and the assembly instructions. For some strange reason, I've always understood them. At least I thought so. Only the thing with the 3 glasses of wine escaped me....
All the best,
Traude

I can't claim to be a "holdout" but I do come close. I've only been in a Ikea store twice.
I like that Djunkelskog. Thankfully the internet will help me pronounce that.

LL Cool Joe said...

I love Ikea, and have never had an issue putting their stuff together, but finding the exit is a different matter.

Mr. Shife said...

Love it.
The wine glass one was my favorite.
We have people around here that will put it together for you.
The nearest one is about 5 hours away so I have not had to deal with Ikea too much in my life.
And I hope to keep it that way.

River said...

I thought Ikea was a great idea until I put together a few things. Now I'd happily pay the extra $$$ to have something ready made and delivered.

Ur-spo said...

I stick to my theory IKEA is owned by extraterrestrials who made the stores to observe earthling behavior.

Ol'Buzzard said...

America doesn't have good fish and chips. What I would give for a Canadian/British fish and chip shop in our area.
Ketchup on fish and chips should be criminalized.

I like the last one best. it's something I might do.

Once they are built, IKEA furnitures are a blessing. Before... oh and for me, IKEA is also Lufsig the Big Bad Wolf.

Martha said...

HAHA! We have quite a few Ikea pieces in our home and I can totally relate! LOL

The last one is great! Stop…. One has to be very selective about where they get fish and chips when they are good they are great!
