Happy Year of the Rabbit!

Today is the start of the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Rabbit (Hare)! So what can we expect the next 12 months to bring? According to Susan Levitt and Jean Tang in Taoist Astrology:

The year of the Hare is a time of peace, calm, leisure, and rest after the chaos of the previous Tiger year. People enjoy the arts, gourmet food, and luxuries. Money can be made easily, but it is spent easily. The Dragon year that follows will be a wild and exhausting time, so enjoy a Hare year as an opportunity for relaxation, pleasure, family gatherings, entertainment, and comfortable travel. Expect political compromise and diplomatic peacemaking on a global level.

Well, that sounds pretty good, doesn't it?

To encourage prosperity and abundance for the upcoming year, exchange a coin with another person while wishing them Gung Hey Fat Choy (Happy New Year)! Make sure each of you brings your own coin of equal value to give to one another -- don't just pass the same coin back and forth. You don't want prosperity to simply swirl or circle around -- you want it to come and stay with you!

Or how about making a Prosperity Bowl?

Oh, I think we could all do with a bit of calm for a year or so.

I was all over the idea of making a prosperity bowl until I saw 12 eggs. And, btw, is that boiled, not boiled? With the price of eggs now, the idea of making a bowl seemed more implausible for me as other ingredients went along, but I'm looking forward to "peace, calm, leisure, and rest".

@ BootsandBraids -- I thought exactly the same things as you did! I too wondered if the eggs should be hard boiled to keep them from going bad for a longer period? I just don't know.

This is a year I can get behind! And thank you for remembering ALL the people who celebrate the lunar new year. Quite a few nations as well as Chinese people.

I await your prosperity bowl, although you'll have to already be prosperous to waste all those eggs.

I can certainly use some peace, calm, leisure, and rest. So, I shall enjoy myself. Particularly is the Dragon will be crabby next year.

Wash the negative energy of the coins in salt water? Next time the lottery gets up to a billion dollars I'm going to wash the dollar bills I donate.

Prosperity to all of us, of every sort, not just money.

We could all use a year of peace, calm, leisure, and rest after this last tiger year, Debra. Terry was born in a year of the rabbit, and I was born in a year of the tiger. He's stuck with me for forty years! I am wiped out from 2022, so I'm focusing on relaxing in Hawaii. I'm finally making progress. Wishing you and your Rare One a wonderful Year of the Rabbit!

I really hope they're right about this coming year. Last year sucked.

Happy Year of the Rabbit. Especially if it's Bugs, Harvey, or the one on a box of Trix.

Would it work as well with plastic or china eggs such as those put into a chicken nest to encourage laying? I've never seen combination gold and silver coins.
A bit diappointed to hear "my" dragon year will be turbulent.

Eggs! Eggs! Actually, there are lots of complicated New Year lucky displays, but I have never seen anything quite like that! Debra, you and your artistic talent are needed here. I wanted to buy some little rabbit charms, etc. to give with the red envelopes (what's all this with coins? People expect paper money!), but cute rabbits were definitely in the minority.

Do you mean we only get one 'restful' year in between?
I love the prosperity bowl; did you create one on your alter?
Gung Hey Fat Choy!!

Apparently in Vietnamese culture it is the Year of the Cat. Please let HRH know! Either way, I hope for a restful and restorative year.
Cheers!

Political compromise would be very nice. For starters, Santos admitted that he was a drag queen. He was quite pretty too.

Gung Hey Fat Choy, Debra!

We kicked off the Year of the Rabbit at tea lessons with a special tea luncheon. It was so delightful. LOL, a lot of the older tea students know about my affection for Sailor Moon (her name means Rabbit in Japanese) so we made a lot of jokes about that at the gathering.
