Let the Shenanigans Begin!

So Irish Heritage Day has rolled around once again,
and that means only one thing to
a mixed Irish descendant such as myself.

Fun, green beer, and mockery!

And Now, An Important Message From
Her Royal Highness the Cat:

"Don't forget that Saint Patrick is not the only saint
whose feast day is March 17. It is also the feast day of
Saint Gertrude of Nivelles,
the patron saint of cats and the people who love them."

Ha! Love the first one and I didn't know that about the Cat Saint.

The math is off, but a flock of penguins is hard to fend off, especially if Bob calls in the tanks again.

Hahaha
oh, we're Mexican on May 5th? Now you tell me?
Also, St. Gertrude of Nivelles? That's awesome.

XOXO

Hahahaha. I loved these. Thanks.

St Gertrude the forgotten one. Perhaps if she'd worn green lipstick or something, she'd have been more memorable.

Yes, St Gertrude, too! High time she got her place. Signed Patty O'Furniture

So many good ones, Debra. I don't know which one I love the most. Pepe and Kermit were awesome. Crabby Road is spot on. I think that is a great movie having the Irish battle penguins. And I am looking forward to being Mexican in a few months. Take care.

Happy Saint Gert's Day to you! Do you know any good songs?

Thanks for the laughs this morning. My mum's family was from Ireland and I told Jack this morning that he's a little Irish so he should say top of the morning to ye and talk with an Irish accent all day. He just looked at me.

@ Moving with Mitchell -- I believe the official hymn of praise for St Gertrude's Day is the Meow Mix song. All together now -- "meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow . . . "

Here's an old Irish blessing for you on this holiest of holy days:

On your way back from the pub tonight, don't let the road rise up to meet your face!

Top o the mornin' to ye, Debra. Happy Irish Heritage Day to you, too. And to HRH.
The Norse Goddess Freya is among other things the goddess of cats. Didn't know that the Catholics had their own saint of cats, Saints simply being a Catholicized version of various and sundry pagan deities.

Great post. Very funny. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I didn’t know there was a difference between a possum and an opossum. Live in learn still not getting your blog in my email so it’s going to be hit or miss. I will try to catch up when I get a comment on my blog, that will be a reminder. It will be inconsistent because I don’t post every day anymore. Anyhow, I’ll try to catch up because I like your posts and I will miss them if I don’t see them regularly have a wonderful weekend behavior self. Shut.

Always wondered about those two spellings for possum.

I hope everyone had a nice Saint Patricks Day! We are not really Irish in this little tourist town. But we have two families from that country.
We used to do a parade and a party every year for the day. Because it is Utah, green beer doesn't exist but we would substitute a green jello contest.
We didn't do the parade in 2020. We didn't do it in '21, and we skipped it again in '22. But this year it came back again.
We used to hire a Scots marching band with bagpipes and drums. Yes i know that is not Irish, but when times are hard, solidarity counts.
So it was nice to have that parade again. I was skeptical, but yes the pipers showed up and we did it.

Out of character of me to draw attention to math or grammar issues, but gosh, the penguin thing..."over 3 million" is a very very long way from the correct number of just over 3 (3.182). An amusing notion nonetheless.

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Dante -- You're right, of course, but personally I wouldn't even be able to fight off 3 penguins, much less 3 million, LOL!
