The quotes are fun, but I kind of feel about IWD like the author of this article; https://apple.news/AcOi-2ZaHT8qudNeBb7VnOQ.
Violence against women and girls, the erosion of our rights and freedoms, the same rights and freedoms at least three or four generations of women fought for, are in jeopardy. I sound like a right wet blanket, but with two granddaughters, I worry about what the future holds for them.
@ Alison -- I agree with the linked article that corporations and other interests have commercialized IWD to a certain extent. We face the same issue in the LGBTQ+ community about Pride events. However, both IWD and Pride belong to US, not to them, and we should use these events to advance the fight for rights beyond our society's comfortably-accepted limits. Especially now that hard-won rights in both communities are under attack from the right.
That meme about "women don't ask for much" is so true. When I married David I gave that exact same list to my husband for ideas for my birthday presents and Yule presents and he still can't seem to get me even one item from that list. Men are useless.
Thus far it seems the comments in this thread are disproving Lewis's Law? Don't tell me I am responsible for making some insensitive comment just to keep the streak going?
Men always talk about men having balls as being tough; but balls are the most delicate part of a man's anatomy. One hit there and he is down for the count. A woman can pass a nineteen inch seven pound baby through her vagina and get up the next day and function. That's tough! The expression should be: Quit whining, grow a vagina. the Ol'Buzzard
These are brilliant, cogent and appropriate. I hope they serve as a reminder that our purpose on this go-around is to Destroy the Patriarchy. There is much work to be done.
I love all of these, Debra. Thank you for sharing. I am raising a young lady who is going to ruffle some feathers and will definitely be defiant and I am looking forward to watching her make her mark in the world.
It is international womans day always, 365. I think Hera needs to come down and smite these mullahs, republicans, chrustians, and fools. My working days are over, but it was my woman bosses were the best and gave me less bullshit. It is sad that we have this day. I thought it was everyday. Sincerely, an orphan.
All I can say is that when someone keep saying you that you are not important it means he is utterly afraid of your importance and find no way to degrade you except unveiling his fear through curcus Hugs and blessings

Brava!
Yay!
And Public Cervix Announcement? Yes, please!
XOXO
Public cervix and balls to boobs are priceless!
I live for the day when it won't be necessary to remind the world we are important. Meanwhile, happy Women's Day, women friends!
i love all of these!
I love all of these. It's a shame that all the rights we fought for are now being dismissed before our eyes.
Love the public cervix one!
We will be watching "Hidden Figures" today where I work in celebration of Women's Day.
My grandma was a strong, industrious and very wise woman. Learned much from her.
Yes, Hooray for us!
Yay! Happy International Women's Day to you as well. Wonderful memes.

Public Cervix Annoouncement. I love it!
My three daughters are all SJW. I am so proud of them. I love that picture of Margaret Atwood
Hello Debra, Come to think of it, Lewis's Law has a much more general application. --Jim

I'm stealing the Decision list.
Every one of these - yes!
My favorite, which I found myself nodding to, is Lewis's law.
Thanks, Debra.
Here's to empowered women!
This is a such celebration of international woman's day. For a great cause
Happy International Women's Day!
These are all great, but the Public Cervix Announcement was my favorite. :)

@ Old Lurker -- Hahaha, you're right. Aren't you just too clever by half! I'm fortunate to have so many smart and progressive commenters.
Atwood with the 'I told you so' mug FTW.
I wish we didn't need a Women's History month and a Black History month. These stories shouldn't require special treatment to be heard.
Love,

LOVED this post and your memes. Spot on. I fear we're losing ground and the far right is still pushing for more. Scary, and frustrating.

Belated happy International Women's Day. And I must confess, I never found The Handmaid's Tale very believable or prophetic.
Happy ♀️🌞
Great posts. Keep speaking out...I'll keep listening!

I deserve a dragon or two!
Marie Curie’s son in law changed HIS surname because he was a huge fan of the Curies!
A delightful post, Debra, thanks!
Pockets in every garment a must. Dragons go without saying.
OMG. I love these, especially the little bad ass girl who yanked out her own tooth! GOLD
I LOVE all of these! The response from Marie Curie is the best!
