Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

Do your research, turkey!
And then run for the hills!

Okay, I'm stuffed but . . .
maybe just ONE more dessert!

Happy Thanksgiving! I wish we had our Thanksgiving when you have yours instead of cramming it in so close to Christmas. I love the little turkeys with the candy corn.

Love,
Janie

We have to wait till November. Which is fine because it’s easier to overeat in cooler weather. Hope your Thanksgiving day was great.

I should steal a couple of those for next month.

Do Canadians have the same origin stories as Americans when it comes to Thanksgiving? I never really thought about that before. But did everyone meet at Percé Rock or maybe Newfoundland (“the rock”) for the first turkey dinner?

Hello Debra, Canada must be beautiful around now, blazing with autumn, and so a good time for a Thanksgiving celebration.

Hello again, First Wordpress was acting up, and now Blogger just insulted me with error messages and ate my appreciative comment for this post. I'll see if it magically appears.

@ Moving with Mitchell -- No, Canadian Thanksgiving has its origins in traditional harvest celebrations. We don't have the whole pilgrims and native people celebrating together origin story.

Thanksgiving before Halloween? So now I'm really confused as to whether Skelly should be wearing a pilgrim hat instead of a halloween costume; but Enjoy the Day.

Happy fake Canadian Thanksgiving. I hope you are not going the rent-a-girlfriend route this year?

Happy Thanksgiving, D! Despite the world being a dumpster fire, we need to pause and give thanks for what we have. Celebrating with family may (or may not) be that for many folks. Love the wine pairing! Also, wow, that rentable girlfriend is a brilliant entrepreneur!
Wishing you and yours a happy holiday and the stretchiest of elastic!

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving. Since yours is so early, I think I can safely assume that Christmas shopping season doesn't start the next day.

Well I hope you have a good one. I can only guess what Thanksgiving is like since we do not have one in the UK. But I wish you a very happy holiday anyway.

Dear Debra, oh my, the sweet turkeys at the bottom, I would like to eat them too. It's good not to be a turkey at the moment.
Thank you for your lovely comment on my previous post. You wrote, among other things, about our extras job: "I bet the staged cage match was exciting to watch - although it probably had many stops and starts, and substitutions with stunt doubles for the actresses, I would think."
There are actually a lot of breaks when working as an extra, but not for this reason: the two actresses were actually fighting themselves! One IS a real fighter, the other an actress with appropriate kickboxing training. The only breaks were for repeats, new shots or to let the make-up artist fake injuries ;-)
All the best and happy October days

Happy belated Gobble Gobble. The BFJ is in Ontario this week and enjoyed T-day at the home of a co-worker. What a lucky duck!

Belated happy Thanksgiving! I prefer to celebrate it in October, although for me it is mostly a rehearsal for Halloween. And we eat tourtière.

Rawknrobyn.blogspot.com said...

Only one more? I'll take a 12-pound bag of these turkeys. What do you mean there aren't any left? I thought I was the only one who loves candy corns.
Belated Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, Debra.
May you be having a beautiful week.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! It is a movable feast. I have some opinions about Alberta, too inappropriate to share. Anyway, according to my lunar calendar, we still have to do Halloween and Martinmas.
This is not a good time to be a calendar type person.

Boys of Summer by Kris Dee on YouTube. Take a look. Every year, it seems like we have to resist, and I do. But they have finally worn me down. I am tired of being that old guy. I am tired of having to explain and justify my knowledge and attitudes. If you all want to go forage wild greens, good luck! But it is not what you think it is.
It is different and dangerous. Learn your plants. Learn a different language.

Rent a Girlfriend for Thanksgiving is an amazing business opportunity. But $500 is a bit steep. My pickup line is "I bet you $500 you won't sleep with me."
My kids knew nothing about Tanya when we were long distance courting. I did not tell them until after we were engaged in mid 2006. My oldest said she had always imagined I would show up with a 25 year old stripper and announce we were married. And one of her tassels would fall in the salad. If I had only known that I would have given her such a run for her money, regardless of cost.
