It's Federal Election Day in Canada!

Well, today I have to go and vote for one of these numbnuts
to be the next Prime Minister of Canada.

And despite the endless media coverage
since the election was called,
no one has been able to tell me the
most important political information of all . . . .

It's hard not to be cynical about politicians
and the political process these days . . . .

For example, we believed in Justin Trudeau's
"sunny ways" last time and
where the hell did that get us?

WTF, we'd probably be better off if
cats themselves actually did go into politics.

How much worse could they be?

A cat did run in Canada's last federal election.
I knew I should have voted for him!

Oh, Earl Grey, you magnificent furball,
where are you in 2019 now that
your country needs you even more?

A FINAL NOTE --

IF I HEAR THE MEDIA USE THE PHRASE
"VOTE-RICH ONTARIO"
ONE MORE TIME,
IMMA GONNA HURL!

Those are some great memes!!! Your numbers are better than what we have!!! I do adore Justin though.

here's a Tuxedo party of Canada? My Tuxedo wants to know why he wasn't chosen to run??

PS The Before and After memes are high-larious ...and true!

Whomever is elected can't possibly even come close to being as big a disaster as what the electoral college stuck us with.

Ugh! politicians - the bad and the ugly (so far I haven't seen any 'good')

Lady M said...

I refuse to believe you have it as bad as we do here in the states.

I feel the same as you do about the leaders. Not much choice. Love these memes.

HAHAHA! All of the above are so funny...and so true! We'll be going to vote later this evening. I have zero motivation to do so. Same old song and dance every time.

Remember the TV version of Felix the Cat? He could have been a politician with that bag of magic tricks of his.

We vote next month hoping to turn the Senate blue and get Moscow Mitch out as the Senate leader. Then next year we have to vote to get the Mango Moron and his Klan base out of the White House.
Fun times. I haven't been this hyped since Nixon and his impeachment.

Friend D, thank you for making me smile today :) Meow … cat.

It's unfortunate that all the candidates are sub-par. How does Jagmeet Singh rate? I know I'm getting older, but he's, what, 40 years old?

A kitty politician would be perfect.
The before/after memes are hysterical!

Well, if the guy with the turban becomes Prime Minister, it will be one more thing to freak out Trump.....

He might not be purrfect -- What am I saying? Keep the hottie in office.

At least yours is over today, we still have another year of campaigning and the slow decent into the madness of Wannabe King Donnie.

e said...

At least you don't have to put up with ENDLESS campaigning. Your neighbors to the south are beyond exhausted by it...
I'd still take Justin over what we have been forced to deal with.
Politics. Ugh.

believe me....it could be worse.

Well numbnuts is a perfect description for this bunch. I'm probably not going to vote, I stopped years ago, I can't vote for someone that I don't think would even be qualified as a mayor in a large city.

OMG Vote-rich Ontario...sorry, hope that didn't make you hurl!! ;)

Excellent!

Now, now. Let's not mislead your readership. You are not voting one of those numbnuts to be Prime Minister. You are voting for some other numbnuts to be your local member of parliament. Your socialist and rather backwards country doesn't have a presidential system, so you do not vote for the Prime Minister directly.

Best of all, if the numbnut you are voting for does not win his or her seat, you aren't helping anybody get elected. That's how you end up with 44 year Conservative dynasties. Whee!

We'll gladly trade whoever for Trump.

I voted. I always vote because then I can complain about whoever becomes Prime Minister! If I don't care enough to vote I cannot have a say in what kind of job they are doing. And remember, ANYONE in this country would be a better leader than our poor neighbors to the South of us have....

Hello Debra, Just count your blessings that you don't have our political nightmares.

@ Bea -- Yes, Jagmeet Singh, leader of the democratic socialist New Democratic Party and Andrew Scheer, leader of the Conservative Party, are both just 40 years old. They are the youngest leaders in this race. Justin Trudeau, leader of the Liberal Party, is 47. Of these top three contenders, Jagmeet Singh does not have enough support to become Prime Minister but he may end up potentially holding the balance of power in a minority government situation. He's the only leader who had any kind of upward momentum at all during the entire campaign, which is his first time running as leader.

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Old Lurker -- You are, of course, absolutely correct. However, I felt that explaining the parliamentary democratic system in all its precise intricacies would make for a much duller post. And I wanted to get to the cat memes ASAP!

And hey, "your socialist and rather backwards country" -- nice touch! But you're still not fooling me, you know.

I cannot vote, being an expat. If I could, it would be for the Bloc québécois (that is, if I lived in Québec). I have to say, I am quite excited about tonight, as the results are unpredictable this time.

Tundra Bunny said...

Well, Old Lurker, I'd rather be be a citizen of a socialist, rather backwards Canada than be one in the dumpster fire known as the U.S.A.... but that could just be my United Empire Loyalist roots showing!

Listen, we down here can wrap up plenty of troubles to send up there. There are golf resorts He owns there, I believe.

Checking your election results this evening, I see Justin is reelected. Don't know how you feel about him, but at least he's fit and handsome, not filthy bulbous and disgusting like our No. 45.

Love the kitties!!!Especially the before and after....Sad that we all seem to feel the same way about our politicians and the political process..

Larry B and Will (blogger buddies dear!) keep me abreast of all politics in Canada. It's been looking more like the USA all the time. Word is today things are a relief and the nasty Trumptypes didn't win. Thank goodness for sensible Canadians!

No, cats are too honest for politicians.

SmitoniusAndSonata said...

Why are Ontarians vote-rich, do they have two each?

Old Lurker said...

Apparently I am not the only one who has observed that your country is socialist and rather backwards. #Wexit, anyone?

Miss Val's Creations said...

Politics are not fun these days. It does help to laugh at the goings on. Good luck to you guys! One a positive note, it probably can't get worse for you guys than the US.

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ SmitoniusAndSonata -- They THINK they do, lol!

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Old Lurker -- Wexit? Puh-leeze. The ravings of the far right fringe. They all wear tin foil hats.

The fun cat pics are a cute way to look at politics! Hope you voted for how you wanted in the end :) Voting is compulsory here in Australia and it's so hard to figure out all the different parties sometimes, especially if they don't keep their election promises!

Hope that your week is off to a great start :)

It seems the whole world hates their leaders - at least the ones that are able to voice an opinion. With instant news nothing can be hidden, on the other hand it has gotten so difficult to tell the truth from a paid-for opinion.

At least you only had to go through all the electioneering for a couple of months. We have another year of torture before our election.

You know what Deb, I never heard the media say, Vote Rich Ontario. I would have voted for the Tuxedo Party, if there were in Ontario!!! Big Hugs!
