Happy Krampusnacht!

Tonight Krampus roams the streets,
looking for naughty children.

In Germanic tradition,
he is Santa's evil twin
meting out punishment.

Our modern society has retained the "good twin" Santa,
but ditched the "evil twin" Krampus.

However, Krampus is making
a bit of a comeback
in the last few years!

But really, aren't Santa and Krampus
just two sides of the same
controlling, manipulative coin?

Sheesh, is ANY of it really healthy?

No, no, no, enough of such twisted thoughts!

Let's eat some Krampus cookies instead! Yay!

I have never heard of Krampus before, so tonight, I do hope that every child firmly lock their doors and preferably stay off the streets too.

I haven't even bought Christmas cards, or dragged out the lights or started making cookies or bought/ordered gifts for a few special people and now I'm behind on Krampus celebrations too! St nick on Dec. 6th, And here in New Mexico, Our Lady of Guadalupe is Dec 14th, It's enough to give me the Cramps. Can't wait till New Year!

Wait a minute--if the Krampus is evil, why does he want to punish the wicked children? He should be rewarding them and beating and taking away the good children instead! --Jim

So long as there are cookies, it's cool.

I wonder if he does 74-year-old toddlers.

We are not doing Grampus this year. We have a real live one. It will take all we can do. It is too scary. I support this observance. But not doing it this year.

Cookies! I am the cookie monster. We never did the Santa thing with our kids. No point in telling them that if they're bad they won't get a present. They always did something bad and got their presents anyway.

Love,
Janie

I will try to find Krampus's fitness routine. I mean, did you see those muscles?! I wonder if he gets any cookies...

I am still here this morning. The Krampus did not haul me away last night. In a way this is a disappointment. Perhaps I will do better with the 13 Yule Lads. I would rather see Iceland than Austria anyway.

A fun fact about gingerbread:
One of the associations to gingerbread men is they were thought of a sort of voodoo doll that in Europe the making of such were banned to discourage witchcraft.

HAHA! Loved these, especially the cookies. I can just imagine the expression on someone's face if I gave them these cookies during the holidays.

Ohhh I watched this one Netflix Krampus movie and I was slightly turned on by the hunky Krampus, so I cannot judge your cookies until I have one or two dozen.
Yes, it's an excuse for cookies.

XOXO

Eek.. how awful to scare little kids like that.
But love those cookies.. I wouldn't mind eating a krumpus or two.

Love those cookies! They should be filled with chile and pepper and all manner of hot spices!

Krampus has Pere Fouettard as the French equivalent. Maybe they are two different evil Santa counterparts, maybe they are the same. My theory: they are the evil butcher from that old Saint Nick legend. I have been wanting to write a story about Krampus for ages.

A tad bit scary.

But I am a sucker for gingerbread cookies!!

In one of the pics, I had flashbacks of the evil man in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang who whisked the innocent children away.

Gerald Brom wrote a really cool novel about the Krampus. I handed my copy of it off, but every time December rolls around, I want to read it again.
